Anyone fitted a pumpkin double din Android unit to a Puma
Hi,

I have bought one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pumpkin-Bluetooth...double+din

To replace my Parrot Asteroid, but it turns out Double Din isn't "standard". The pumpkin unit is approx 10mm wider and 5-6mm taller. Hence I either:

a) send it back and look for another unit that fits - any ideas, but I like this is as it is good spec, and pretty much native Android
b) take a hacksaw to my double din fascia which doesn't appeal.

Anyone been down this route and got any wisdom?

Thanks

Alastair

If Amazon are selling it as a Double Din HU then it should meet ISO 7736 or DIN 75450. The size is nominally 180mm x 100mm. Are you saying it is therefore 190mm wide and 106mm tall, if so then it should not be described as Double DIN. I think I'd be looking for my money back and getting something else. Defender 90XS SW

I'd cut and make it fit. Soon as the trim surround is on you'll never notice.

Re: Anyone fitted a pumpkin double din Android unit to a Pum
I have the same clone receiver though not a pumpkin in my TD5 dash with the Raptor fascia. I had the same issue with the unit being a bit larger than double DIN.

My solution was to mount the radio from the inside of the fascia as the bezel is DDIN. The trim ring was installed afterwards.

It makes pulling the stereo a bit more difficult as it requires pulling the center dash, but would confuse any thief looking for a quick score.

I can't comment if the same would work with a Puma.

Thanks for all the replies, so after much searching and measuring, it looks like Pumpkin has two versions of Double Din (maybe other manufacturers do to):

There is this "universal Double Din" which doesn't fit a Puma:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pumpkin-Bluetooth...double+din

and there is this "standard Double Din" which I have now ordered and hope does fit:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pumpkin-Android-B...double+din

Perhaps I was naive to think "universal double din" was different from "standard double din", anyway, they will both be from Amazon, the first is going back tomorrow, and if the next one doesn't fit that will be going back as well, just wanted to make sure if other go down this route not all double dins are equal, I will report back if the "standard Double Din" fits when it arrives.

Cheers

Alastair
