Chequer plate sill fitment - gasket, silicon or Dinitrol wax
Going to fit Mammouth chequer plate sills to prevent ongoing sill damage from boots when standing on side steps. Paint all intact. No gaskets supplied so are they not need, best fabricated from pond liner material or will a coat of Dintrol wax do the trick to prevent corrosion between sill and CP. If so which Dinitrol to use? Sorry to ask Whistle but not clear from previous threads. Will of course Dintrol bolt fitting holes and rear nuts.

Last time I fitted a set, I stuck some self-adhesive closed cell foam, 2-3mm thick, to the back of the CP, which worked well. There shouldn't be a corrosion issue between the two panels as they're both aluminium, but it stopped crud building up between them.

I also secured them with 6mm nylon nuts and bolts. There's little to no load on them, even if you bash the cills, and they avoided rusted bolts. It could also be done with stainless bolts and nylon washers to separate the metals if you wanted to. I've got quite a collection of different sized nylon washers now, as they're really handy for this sort of thing. Darren

I am going through this same scenario with the bonnet on my 110. But I am going to stick it on with TigerSeal and also rivet it. No corrosion, not coming off and therefore won't create any issues
