Diesel Tax Change in the Autumn Budget
I can't find any more details but the BBC are reporting "Vehicle excise duty for diesel cars that do not meet latest standards to rise by one band in April 2018". I hope it isn't to be applied retrospectivley, 520 a year for a Puma is already more thna enough in my view.

* On further Googling, the papers are suggesting it is only for new vehicles. panic over Very Happy 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Most of us are on commercial tax rates anyway, except for an unfortunate few.
Which was strupidity in its self.

Yes, a bit of a panic here initially, but on checking the only 2 vehicles that I have that are diesels are my VW T5 Camper and the Defender, and both are not affected Whistle

Still don't think it will put many off.

Whilst diesels do have the hazardous to health particulates, petrols contribute more to global warming.

So what is that achieving except for appeasing certain political groupie types in fiat 500's Rolling Eyes Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

So will a 2014 Defender be affected by any hike in road tax?

The story I read on The Sun website said it would apply to new vehicles only. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

"petrols contribute more to global warming"

Lol!
Total contribution to greenhouse gas emissions from CO2 - 65%
Total transport contribution to CO2 from transport - 1/5th of that, so 13%
Total percentage of cars within 'transport CO2' - 50%, so 6.5%
Total percentage of petrol cars - 40%, so...
Total contribution to 'global warming' from petrol cars...2.6%

And that all assumes that the science (that CO2 is driving world temperatures) is correct. Now left.

I don't know anything, but I suspect the Treasury will be closely watching what happens with electric and alternative fuels in the next couple of years and work out a way to claw back lost revenue if a big switch still looks likely. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Don't think so...
Contribution from CO2 to global warming - 65%
Contribution from N2O to global warming - 6%

The most powerful greenhouse gas is water vapour. But that isn't taxable. Now left.

The current concern over Nox is not its effect on climate change, but the health effects from high concentration in heavily congested areas. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
