If it is in the National Park be careful what you do, I'm aware of someone who sorted out a lane to their house, the National Park didn't like what they had done and they were forced to put it back to the original state even though they had used local stone chippings.

Like the way the National Park/National Trust used alien stone chippings to surface the Pyg Track on Snowdon. Crying or Very sad

Weve got a mile long lane, originally a cobble surface but over the years this has deteriorated with a raised centre and potholes. No problem with the Defenders ( or the local postman who like another posters drives up here at 100mph ) but my son decided to buy a Ford Fiesta ST3 and when we took him to pick it up SWMBO saw a Mercedes CLK and decided to swap it for her 90 Soft Top, Big Cry well, theyre both convertible two seaters and it doesnt leak - female logic?

Anyway, repairs needed to the lane to accommodate 5inch ground clearance. What I ended up doing was planing the centre down using the edge of my link box on the back of my small tractor. To fill the pot holes I used No1 sub base from our local quarry, 20 per tonne. This binds well and sets solid and seems to be pretty water resistant. Its still a bit rough but if they drive down very slowly they dont hit down!

I can now see its going to be a constant battle to keep potholes at bay! 2010 Defender 110 Station Wagon, Santorini Black.

To be fair, i can't believe the local council haven't done anything about it, the lane services a park in which theres a school on the other side, if it starts raining for a few days, you can't walk on it and it forces the kids to go the long way round.

i do have a case 580 F but it probably hasn't been on the road in 15 years just about the farm Shocked

the initial bit from the road is some dodgy concrete work, which currently is the most concerning bit for the low clearance front of the car...

Between me and my father its a 22 car collection so far....................

And enough spares to probably build 5 new cars..

This lane services the daily drivers garage, which currently houses the rs4 & defender.. the aston will be coming home mid december.
