Easy speaker upgrade
Hi,

I have Defender 90 XS with the Alpine sub and I am looking to upgrade the rest of the speakers. Ideally I would want something that is plug and play as I am not too handy with electrics/cabling.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

I personally love the focal range - but the choice is yours depending on budget. Speakers are very much get what you pay for. They aren't very difficult to fit, if you want to upgrade sizes and go bigger you'll need to start cutting plastic etc.

Where are you located? My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

LRI solutions do upgrade kits. They're not quite plug and play as you have to cut the ends off the existing speaker wires and put them into the cross over box, but it's very easy to do.

Second the Focal recommendation. Straight (ish) swap for all speakers and a reasonable upgrade in sound bearing in mind the acoustic limitations of the Defender.

Whereabouts are you in London as can give you a couple of dealers if you want them to fit for you?

I am located in North London. The Focal range looks good although I would rather try and fit them myself. Are they a straight swap? Current speakers look straight forward to remove with the exception of the tweeters on top of the dash (no screws visible). Any idea how to swap out the tweeters?

Yes a straight swap. Push the tweeters out from underneath. Focal tweeters are a bit of a snug fit so be careful when putting them in
