Which Glow Plugs? Replacement TD5 glow plugs
Since I have had no joy in the Miffy thread;

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53859-30.html

I thought I would try a more direct approach.

The back story is covered in more detail in the above thread, the shorter version is that after testing the plugs it would appear that none of them work and probably haven't done so for quite some time. Have to admit it is something I have been putting off due to the awkwardness of the glow plug position on the TD5 engine. But since the head is off getting pressure tested this is the time to replace them.

Found this thread, but that was two years ago at least; http://www.defender2.net/forum/post486614.html

So... Glow plugs. need a full set. what are the best ones to go for? LR NGK Bosch...??!!!

I know very little about glow plugs, but have heard there are some big differences between brands, both in quality and operation.

Not sure much has changed in two years as far as glow plugs go Wink

Stick to an OE manufacturer - NGK/Denso/Bosch etc - rather than the cheapest pattern ones.

LR ones are only one of the above with the green oval tax applied Whistle  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Ha well you never know Martin, it is not long ago HID was the name in bright lights, now it is LED... Could've had a major breakthrough in glow plug tech so they glow hot quicker etc... Laughing

I firstly fitted some Britpart ones, and like most of their stuff, they were cr%p! They lasted about 4 weeks.

I've since fitted some NGK plugs and they've been spot on!
