Bought my Defender with 180,000 on it all ran fine until recently @ 235,000 miles.
Just had new gearbox, transfer box, clutch, flywheel & associated parts.
All seems to be going good again now. Thumbs Up
It all depends on how it’s been treated throughout its life I suppose.

I’m sure there are more out there with bigger mileage than mine.
Very Happy

What's happened to the decimal point on the odometer?

Decimal point disappears after 100,000 is reached.

'S'pose that's logical really, to give a true indication of mileage.
At 235K you're nearly the distance to the moon!

[quote="geobloke"]Oh good grief Avion you've gone and done it now mate... The local Indy owner has a saying: if it has reached this age/mileage then its a good engine...

If you are concerned do a coolant block test, its completely non-invasive. I used Dr Block Tester (eBay). worked a treat, easy to use and diagnosed a head gasket issue with my 15P. Actually quite a good idea to do this at a service interval as it is so easy and good for peace of mind.

Thanks geobloke, I found a similar product Block Check from the USA on our Aussy eBay, so may give that a go - next year! 1955 Series 1 107" Pick up.

I was doing this:

But then lost grip and slided down. For a while it went ok. I was pulled off the side by a winch but then after a while I run out of diesel. So then the Jeep on the left pulled me out from the front.
No real damage done and the cage was tested and found strong enough te be winched on. Smile Roel

But as Defenders last for ever, how long before one gets to Mars?

Mines 11 years old with 105k on it.
I used to worry about too much mileage but not now (had my defender for 4 years now and put 40k on it) and it runs really well. The more I get to know the vehicle the more mileage is unimportant as long as you keep on top of problems and use quality filters and fluids.
so, don't worry about mileage over 100k Thumbs Up

Hi Mike,
I have a TD5 Defender 90 2006, I have had my little darling since 2006 when the clock was showing 53 thousand, I now have 10016 thousand, oil change every 6 months and I replace things as soon as advised. I do not want it to stop, I just love it. I had a new clutch put in at a 10015 thousand and a new fuel pump in at 57 thousand not long after I had the Landy. These are all miles, not KM.
