Yours as a commercial vehicle should sit "arse-up" unloaded because it is designed to carry a load. You've removed that load-carrying ability by fitting the different springs.

Station wagon variants were generally much more level, as they had softer springs and the self-levelling strut to allow for load carrying from time-to-time. However in later years Land Rover got rid of the strut and fitted the multi-rate springs instead, which work to an extent but are a bit of a compromise hence why newer SWs also sit slightly un-level. The ride was far better with the older setup.

For your usage I would just fit standard 110 (i.e. non-SW spec) springs. Genuine Land Rover ones are not expensive and last very well.

^^^ Thanks for the info Retroanaconda, millie is going in to have the standard springs put on as my indy should have done this the first time she went in, but for some strange reason they put the heavy duty super/pro ones on Rolling Eyes 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

Update on millie's springs, i went and got them changed to the standard ones yesterday and as i waited and watched while he changed them over, i got a few pic's of all the springs together.

The first yellow spring is the new heavy duty one and is thicker steel than the standard ones, the black one in the middle is the new standard one and the rusty looking one is the old original spring.

The first pic is the set for the O/S ( drivers side ) ....................................

The next pic is the N/S ones ....................................................

This next pic is of millie with the new springs fitted and looking right again ............................
