How come you are getting the original bonnet refurb'd Clay? The replacement looks decent... or am I missing something? Rolling Eyes

Yes you are missing something GB Laughing being close to the bonnet and seeing all the marks, dings and dents in it Rolling Eyes

It's just there until i get the blue bonnet back and then it will go on Millie again and then hopefully it will go on for another 27 years. As for the green bonnet i will keep that one and hopefully one day get a dent repair guy / firm to get it back where it should be as there is no rust on it Very Happy

Thank you for the heads up on the bonnet thoughts, Dinnu Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

Drove through Dorset and Devon a few weeks back. Saw plenty of beautifully thatched roofs (maybe rooves when thatched?). Couldn't help but wonder if you had worked on them Clayton Thumbs Up

So earlier this year i managed to get another bonnet for Millie, not mint condition but in good condition and the original right colour for her, fitted

The blue bonnet needs some holes filled as when i bought her many years ago she had the fittings for a spare wheel to be mounted, bonnet off Millie and the checker plate off as well

Holes that need to be filled in which at the moment let water in the engine bay, luckily i have a very good metal man that will do all this for me

On the under side the original colour

there is just one bit of rust that needs attention which he will do

so i'm just waiting for a call to say it's all done Thumbs Up

So i had the call from him a few times Laughing

He replaced the rusted part with new metal and decided that it would be a good idea to split the frame from the skin so he could do a proper job on the frame, after he had parted them, he found a little more rust on the opposite part of the frame so that was replaced with new as well Thumbs Up

as we have gone to all this work, this happened next Wink

yep going all the way now Very Happy

when i had got the bonnet from being put back together i started putting the rest back on it, the different blue colour paint is just to protect the holes that were filled in, they are not going to be seen under the CP

next was to put the piece of CP on

the next part took longer than i hoped for due to the cold spell that we had, next step was to paint the pop-rivets in the appropriate colours, 2 coats of red oxide and 2 coats of black and blue, all finished and ready to go back on Millie

here is the hidden bling Laughing

he couldn't let the bonnet come back to me with all the marks on the under side, so he painted Wink
it's not a bad colour to be fair, it's British racing green Thumbs Up

the bonnet has been reunited with Millie Very Happy

i'm really happy how it all has turned out and it will go on for a very long time now Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

Thank you Guy, and i think that Miffy would love a piece of CP on the middle of her bonnet, it will match the wing top CP as it also would be a great platform to stand on for the extra view's you will be able to see from it Whistle

I use my middle CP to get up to the platform above the roof, makes it easier for loading and taking in some great view's Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.
