Fitting my split charge system with 2 full size batteries
I have bought a 2008 Defender 110 which I am converting into a camper. Which we plan on driving to Portugal for Christmas. I will do a proper build thread as I go along.

I thought some people would be interested in my split charge. As i am limited for room in the back I wanted to get everything under the seats.

I purchased this split charge from Split-Charge.co.uk (durtic VSR replay) through eBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/201605897570

I then purchased a Banner 110ah battery from Alpha Batteries (The delivery company was terrible, ordered Sunday and it didn't come until 5.45 Friday, after saying it would be delivered 3 times during the week. Alpha Batteries were very good, kept in contact and said they would give my a partial refund) - http://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/12v-banne...58EALw_wcB

I made a false floor over the Orginal battery tray and then used wood to hold in the batteries around the sides.

The relay was mounted under the drivers seat and the cables run through the existing grommets. The kit was very good, a good set of instructions and came with absolutly everything needed.

The only thing I came across was the LED on the relay is covered by the label and although there is a clear patch over the LED it is very thick so you can only really see it at night.

If anyone wants to know any more just let me know and I will update as I use it!

I know, Not long at all! Keeping it fairly basic with mainly just storage a full length seat that turns into a bed!

I appreciate that they're probably a snug fit but you really should have a clamp of some description over those batteries, particularly with the exposed positive terminals. A significant bump or, heaven forbid, a roll and you'll have batteries welding themselves to the seat base. Darren

I will sort a strap out but forgot to mention I have a wooden battery cover! I presume the original metal one was lost and someone just replaced it with a bit of ply!
