[Wanted] Direct Entry Transmission Brake
Looking for direct entry cable type transmission brake for my 90.

I have an automatic with Borg Warner transfer case from RRC and the current cable setup I have is far from ideal.

Gearbox is getting replaced shortly so thought it made sense to improve handbrake whilst there.

I believe I need a td5 or later RRC unit but not 100% on this??

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

James

I have a handbrake set up from a very late D1 with LT230 transfer if this is what you are after. It has the cable entry on inner side of the back plate (i.e. centre of chassis).

Have got the backplate, drum, shoes expander, springs and a discovery cable.

Let me know if it is any use, i have returned to the rod operated set up from an earlier 90 to gain exhaust clearance.

Steve,

I'll check parts manual to see if it will bolt on to the Borg Warner TC!

To be honest I've never seen a direct entry setup in person, but I'd imagine they'd all be similar. I already have td5 seatbox and handbrake lever fitted so half way there.

What was your issue with exhaust clearance?

No problem, let me know.

Running a custom made 3" exhaust on my V8 project. The exhaust is central in the chassis rather than offset like the normal position and tucked right up close to the transfer box cover and handbrake drum so would be too close to the handbrake cable. The older style one I have fitted now has the entry point between the driver's side chassis rail and transfer box to give me a little more room. 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

Ah right ok, was worried for a moment there. Mine is a v8 sport exhaust with y pipe so shouldn't be an issue.

Sounds a good project, how come such a big diameter exhaust? Standard manifolds? 4-2-1?

Apologies for straying off topic, I just like a v8 haha!

Just for the hell of it really. Using 4/1 tubular headers each 2 1/2" which join yo a central y-piece with 3". Splits back into two 2.5" pipes with silencers under the rear load bed. Completely over the top really, just on a normal 3.9 for now.

That is insane! But awesome. Really like the rollcage and mounts too.

Do you think you could bundle the bits for the brake in a box? So we could get them shipped?

Cheers, its a north offroad cage so proper CDS tubing etc and all of the mounts are to AWDC regs so fairly over the top!

No problem. I am going down to the lock-up tonight so will gather all the bits up.

Cheers,
