2.2 Genuine door seal leak
My 2012 2.2 drivers door has been leaking since I bought the car earlier last year.

The seal it came with was an aftermarket one so I always put the leaking down to this. Last week I finally got round to buying and fitting a genuine seal for £65 Shocked but its still not water tight - when I took it for a wash this morning there's multiple places where water comes rushing through (passenger side is completely fine)

I'm at a loss of what more I can do to make it water tight. Perhaps I fitted the seal incorrectly, although it didn't seem so technical while I was doing it

Any help much appreciated Thumbs Up

Thanks for that but I had a look and I think its because my door isn't aligned property.

While driving down the motorway I could hear air passing through the top of the door, I pulled over and slammed the door shut and it was a lot quieter and I couldn't feel any fresh air entering.

Its annoying though, the passenger door is perfect, but the drivers (mine) needs a huge slam Sad

It might just need the top bending in a bit or adjust the striker plate in a little if the bottom is out too.

I read that the strikers can cause this problem if the plastic sleeve is worn, so that was a perfect excuse to buy the x-trouser strikers that I've had my eyes on anyway. If they don't help then I'll give bending the top a try Thumbs Up

I had the same problem and cured by putting sealing tape 16mm wide 5mm thick around the door.
This black single sided tape is available on EBay in various sizes.

All of my Defenders have had terrible alignment, in fact my last of the line 2016 90 has door alignment which would make a Morris Marina look over-engineered!

Door leaks, bad alignment...all normal...sad really.

The best cure Ive found is to wipe Vaseline on the seals which makes a bit of a mess but works a treat. Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains

yep, comes standard really. I can see sunlight flicker through various points in the seals as the car moves about. The upper rear on my drivers gets wind through at various times, the wife has said the same on the passengers. At 160K I have had the rear passenger start squeaking. Figured its not old rubbers old as none of the other doors do it, the rubber was still in great shape also. But fiddle with the strikers, apply rubber grease, graphite powder, or cut a line in the rubber, or remove the welded corner in the seam all to no avail. Piece of Censored still squeaks, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes not at all. The joy of Land Rover if you call it that. Live with it or sell it...... My Defender and travels

If you think Defenders leak water in the cab, try a Morgan, every trip in the rain you get a free shower Rolling Eyes
