Going to alloys from steels
Evening folks

Now I have some alloys what do I need to buy to fit 4 boost alloys and spare on the back? I've got the standard 5.5 steels at the moment.

You need alloy wheel nuts and I think there is something to add to the safari door (it escapes me right now) in order to properly mount the alloy wheels or else they will wobble.

Some vehicles with factory fitted steels have no ARB'S and handle like a duvet with a space hopper on each corner when fitted with alloys. My County spec TD5 had ARB'S when poverty spec Commercials never.

Can see a bar at the front which I assume is what you mean I'll take pic later, cant see on the rear though. Is it essential then?

I can't see how it would either, when I went from 235s to 12.5" it didn't cause a significant change in handling, more so road noise? So just changing the wheel should have little to zero effect, if anything it should be better as the alloy wheel is much lighter. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

I understand the pros and cons of the anti roll bars, but that isn't really connected to whether or not the car has Boosts or steels. Perhaps the slight increase in tyre width that comes with Boosts made LR believe an ARB might be helpful in an extreme high speed situation, or more likely it was just some notional idea that the more "sporty" wheels should be accompanied by more road biased handling.

What I'm saying is that changing from one wheel to another really won't make a make a material difference to how it feels to drive. If the OP is happy with the current suspension, then no reason to think that will change. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Probably correct that. Steel wheeled Defenders are more likely to be used by farmers therefor need articulation over comfort?
