Ashcroft gearbox
Need a new gearbox for my Defender.
Going to go with Ashcroft as they seem to be the best & offer a decent warranty.
Just want to know if it is worth the extra money for the upgraded bearings ?
I do tow a caravan from time to time & it does have an Alive map on it.
Also be fitting a new clutch & flywheel at the same time so should all be ok.

My R380 let go earlier this year due to the carrier bearings so I bought a recon box from Ashcrofts with uprated bearings. No idea if they will last longer although hopefully so. The standard ones are a known weakpoint of the R380 so figured it was worth doing.

I'd recommend their V8 5th gear ratio at the same time Thumbs Up

Have you considered Syncro-Works.

A lot of the Ultra 4 and challenge truck folks are running his gear, and it has proven to be very very durable.

FTC3371 output carrier RHP RJ2022, FTC2385 5th gear layshaft carrier RHP 2023 or A&S Fersa F19055 Bearing

These 2 bearings are very important, A&S Fersa and NWB both had failures after 3-4 months if used hard, the original RHP's were OK but not great, they could still fail after 12-18 months but when these were no longer available we got our own made by NKE in Austria , to get these 2 made with their MOQ was £120K, we have not had one fail since we have had them, about 4-5 years, better than RHP by far, note the HD ones we fit are also NKE,

can Ashcroft supply HD output carrier bearing, as RHP bearing no longer available from LR and they are supply NWB 2515 BC 1410 £90.00 box marked made in chine

and if you look at the roller on the NWB 2515 BC 1410 bearing 1/3 smaller so more point load

yes we have FTC3371 made by NKE which we find better than genuine RHP and way better than NWB or A & S Fersa
