Door closing issues
Right my driver's door shuts if you push it but then if you pull it or start driving it opens slightly onto the second catch if that makes sense. The only way I can get it to close is lifting it very slightly as I slam it. So any door closing repair tips? Hinges have slight play so that's my initial thoughts. Someone has packed out the catch bit on the car pillar in the past.

I think you've answered your own question there.

There is some adjustment on the striker position. Slacken off the two securing bolts - they screw into a double nut plate in the door frame so no need for a spanner on the back - and slide it outboard slightly. Darren

Check the nylon bush is still in place on the striker plate bar as if it is worn or missing it can causes these symptoms.
If it is ok try adjusting the striker plate to compensate for the worn hinges. Defender Td5 Commercial 2002

I've played around with striker plate, best I can get it is to lift door and shut it hard. The hinges seem to have to much play and it's causing the door to drop.

I tried cleaning the lock and re greasing it per a guide I found but that's not worked as desired. Infact the outside button is not disengaging the lock enough where as the inside door lock handle does, it's very odd.

So I'm going to get new hinges which I'm confident will help a lot. Question is which out to buy so many on market?

Trying to get it to latch properly while there is play in the hinges is a waste of time. Replace them, then line it all up and then you should be good for some years.

I'd go for Land Rover hinges every time. Yes they'll wear out but only if you use them!

New hinges arrive today not exactly cheap for genuine ones. Any tips or guides about on changing them and lining it all up?

What a pig of a job that was.. swapped hinges after having to drill out an old bolt someone had rounded off Sad.. new ones a lot better and no movement. Got the door all lined up but same issue arghhh. Anyway ripped the weather seal off as I thought that was stopping it latching properly but nope . Eventually packed out the striker some more which already had 3 packers and bingo it's catching now.
