Get it up on some ramps and have a good poke around, i'm always wary of resprayed cars after I had a hpi...etc checked gc8 impreza type r that had been bashed in the rear quarter... only found it when I was poking around the back checking for water ingress and saw the inner wing! 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

Understand what you are saying, They replaced all the doors and bonnet, So with half the painted surfaces replaced did a respray.

Early TD5 or late 300tdi?

Looks lovely either way!

Judging by the side repeaters and no techno cloth I would say a late 300

1998 was the change over. I had a very early td5 on an S plate - it was terrible for reliability.

There's no cat either. Pipe comes down then bends runs along the body until a silencer around about under the tub.

Sounds like you have got a good one that's been loved under the bonnet rather than just the bodywork. One I looked at did have a good paint job but they never bothered going the extra miles by Decat and De EGR. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
