Circuit Diagram and Part Number
Hi all
looking fir a little help with this one, as land rover just looked a little dumb when i asked this question. but first, a little background to why i am asking.

last year a bought a cruise control from another forum member, who not only prvided the unit but also a detail explanation on how to fit it and pictures to go along too.

after installing the unit today, several faults / problems have occured.
1. we can not tell if the unit is on. we have a led on the control unit that shows either green or red, but i do not know which colour meens on or off.
2. when starting the car (LED goees green then red) the rpm starts to increase to full throtle, even though no buttons or pedals pressed.
3. when engine running, there is no ioncrease in rpm when i press the accel pedal, just seems dead.

i am pretty sure that both me and my dad (retired electronics eng RAF) have follwed the instruction and connected the wires as described. we checked this several times. i would point out that in no way am i suggesting that the unit delivered is duff, or the forum memeber i bought it from has ripped me off in any way. the chap was very helpfull and i'm hoping that he may read this and be able to help.

so what am i neededing help with.

1. any suggestions that may cure the problem above.
2. as i am reluctant to try and cut wires again and re-solder the wires after we have to remove to get my defender running again, i would like to know can the connectors at the end of the wire loom to the throtle pedal and connector on the throtle pedle can be bought seperatly so that we can make a plug and play type of arrangement. this is where land rover looked dumb the first.this is the plug i am talking about

is this the same as fitted to the TD5?

3. also, i am looking for a wire diagram of the wires going to the throtle pedal, describing what colour wire does what, so that we can site down and check what we have done, just in case there is a variation in the wireig of the unit supplied, from the installation procedure described. when i ask land rover for this, they looked even more dumb than the first question.

if any one can help, i would appreciate this very much. i have down loaded the workshop manual for the 07 defender, but i can not see any wire diagrams in there. Cheers

Hi Keith
You need to double check what you have connected to as I've fitted several units and have had no problems.

Hi Sonic
we have, several times. took the connections off, and then refitted from fresh and still the same issue. the only thing we where unsure about where the brown wires to the brake pedal. the instructions are conflicting in theat the diagram shows one way, bu then says they are reversable.

any ideas on a part number for the plug? would like to make a connection uop to plug in plave to avoid more cutting and soldering, the wires are looking a little tired to say the least. Cheers

Just a thought did Ashcroft do anything to your throttle pedal when they fitted the auto box?

JE Eng fitted the auto box. there is an orange wire that is not standard soldered to the red green wire going to the plug, but as we are not sure what each wire is for on the land rover side, we can not work out what this does.
the only additional items that have been fitted by JE that require power are the auto box, auto wipers and webasto heater. i do not know where any of these take there power from.

edit
just had a though, the electronic control unit for the box has a throtle position sensor, this could be what is connected to the throtle pedle, but that is only a guess at the moment. Cheers

Have you tried disconnecting the extra orange wire?

It's the same connector as the TD5 Throttle Sensor connector (YPC111870)

Land Rover don't sell them separately, but you can get them from Simtek, here -

TD5 Throttle Pedal Sensor Connector (CON-065)

For the Wiring Diagram and Electrical Library, I believe that the users Naks and dgardel have both posted links.

Might be worth asking JE what else they tapped into?
