Improving the exhaust tone on the 2.2?

I would like to improve the sound coming out of the rear end of my 2.2. My no.1 concern is mainly cosmetic, if there are power improvements to be gained as well, great but my understanding is that there is little, if anything, to be gained.

As far as I can make out you can't (easily) decat the 2.2 - is that still right?
I've seen JE have a kit coming in at something like 400+vat. Are there cheaper bits around? Do Paddocks have all the bits I need?
