D2 key fob for a Td5??
Have done a search but have not found the answer so asking the question in the hope that someone has done this.

I have just replaced the ignition & door locks with a new genuine set & now have the bigger bulky keys as well as the separate remote fob. I'd like to reduce the clutter on my key ring by swapping to a D2 key with the integral fob.

Has anyone done this & if so is it simply a case of getting the blank cut & then getting the fob paired to the car?

Thanks.

I'm not 100% if the D2 fobs will work with the Defender but you can get a Range Rover style switchblade key for around £10, you just swap over the guts from your current fob and get the key cut. However the issue will be finding a key cutter that will cut your own key. In my experience they are not fond of cutting keys which are not supplied by them.

The D2 key system isn't compatible with the Defender. The D2 uses a Valeo system, Defender is Lucas.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, that answers that then Big Cry

Don't want to go down the flip key route as it's going to be just as bulky as having a fob & a key but I guess it's that or one of those custom D2 lookalike keys.

Cheers.
