Well quite a busy weekend all in all.

Rusty had his first ride out which he loved, happily sits in the middle as he's sandwiched between myself and the better half and has a good view.

Little bit of progress this weekend mainly comprising of:

- Unbolted the cross member chequer plate and was surprised (looks brand new) so i put it back on for now but will buy one of the NAS rear footsteps in the near future. Love the look of those.

- Picked up decat and centre silencer removal pipe (fitting next weekend)

- Fitted Gloss Black Wing Mirror Covers - As You can see the originals were rather faded

- Fitted Gloss Black Hurricane Side Vent - I like it, beats the old faded plastic one

Few Photos after I gave the defender a good clean this afternoon, since which it has pittled it down!

Hey Rusty! Great looking 90 Cool nice to see you've done some mods pretty much right away, makes it feel "yours" then doesn't it?

Why have you got a "tax disc" in the windscreen?

Thanks Procta!

Will definitely get hold of one of those kits, will really smarten it up!

Cheers Eddie,

The tax disc holder has been on for years and is quite well bonded on, i just wanted to get some nail polish remover today so i can remove it along with all the residue! Just hadn't got around to it Smile

Glad it has done the job V8GPC Thumbs Up

Well de-cat and centre silencer replacement done over the weekend.

WHAT A NOISE Whistle Whistle Whistle Whistle

Sounds beautiful, no additional drone/cab noise that ive noticed even at 70 down the M1.

The sound though is spot on, nice little whistle of the turbo on tick over and gentle revs and then a beastly roar when accelerating through the gears.

I swear some folk think i'm driving a v8 as i accelerated from the village through the 50 zone. ideally though If im tottering a long it sounds standard, have to make it be noisy which i like.

Removed the gearbox cross member for ease of removal of the cat pipe, bit of surface rust between the surface of the cross beam and the chassis so cleaned this up and applied some anti corrosion treatment and left to dry whilst doing the exhaust. No undersea can help nucks and crannies like this i suppose. Otherwise the underside is very immaculate, the undersea was annoying the old man however, covered all his sockets and spanners in the gunk Laughing

Did also notice though that there was a bit of oil misting around the rear diff flange seal, not a leak as I have no signs of oil leaks whatsoever where i park. I think this was caused by the underselling blocking the vents though. So cleaned the rear diff up a bit and fitted a new seal whilst it was on the ramp over the weekend.

Ideal having paddocks only 20 mins away and a father with a keen eye and willingness to help Thumbs Up

Productive weekend all in all Mr. Green

I bet its opened it up too, I find Cats really do strangle diesels. Also look at getting a nice decent air filter, that will open help it too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
