Finally decided on an Allisport tune.... Any advice
After a lot of deliberation I have decided to go with Allisport.

This will include the chip as well as:
1) TD5 Exhaust Manifold, Extended Stud Kit and Gasket Package - weak point for increased exhaust temperature.
2) NEW LIFT technology Defender TD5 Uprated Intercooler - Power
3) Exhaust - not sure which direction I'm going to go with this yet.

I'm not going to do the turbo as the increased size blocks the secondary oil filter. I may upgrade to silicone hoses at some point but probably only if the rubber fails.

Any other advice or issues people have run into?

Thanks! 1999 Defender 110

You dont need the manifold unless running masses lf power. You can get de-webbed OEM ones off ebay for £170 plus some Wurth studs for £15.

Ive had that set up on my 110 for the past year zero problems. I know a few people (including a couple race TD5s) using the same set up as well.

I went for the Allisport SS Decat & Bullet mid box, nice throaty roar when you put your foot down but quiet if you want it do be.

I would fit Silicone hoses though, the standard ones can blow, expand and delaminate especially with higher boost pressure.

EGR blanked as well?

I wouldn't bother with a loud exhaust.... I had a V8 "sports" system on my Td5, gave me a headache.

fitted a standard quiet system on, no difference (i.e. reduction) in performance at all.

WHilst it's all apart I'd fit new silicone hoses, for the extra cost, I'd think it would be worth it. James

Thats why the Allisport bullet mid box is brilliant! Quite on a normal drive but loud when you floor it!

In terms of the exhaust I would just be looking for an increase in power. Not focused on sound. Does a straight through exhaust boost power or is there something else out there? I need to look into the Allisport bullet mid box!

Re: manifold. Is there any point in doing this if I am doing an intercooler? Looks like the intercooler significantly drops the exhaust temperature...

Looks like I should do the silicone hoses. Thanks. 1999 Defender 110

No. You wont need the manifold but if you find that yours does warp fit this instead http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282639604286

Along with manifold studs made by Würth.

The exhaust wont increase power by any noticable amount but a decat pipe will help the turbo spool slightly faster.

Don't waste money on a new manifold unless it's warped or leaking. My remapped 2005 Defender 110 TD5 is on 92,000 miles (38,000 since the remap) and the original manifold is still fine.

get yourself a proper remap and not one of these plug in boxes that allisport do.

I would highly recommend speaking to Alive tuning. 2003 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Belize Green - "Betty"

Dynachip are cheaper, the guy comes to you and certainly knows his stuff.

He charges £250.

Plus you test drive the Defender (with him as a passenger) after he's remapped it and if for any reason it's not right, or you are not happy, he will adjust it.

He had to adjust mine twice as there was too much smoke initially. He'll call out pretty much anywhere in the country and it doesn't cost any more if you are out of the way.

I don't think he's going to come all the way to the west coast of Canada to do a tune... but f he did, I think he would have to get a pretty big tip! LOL it's a Landrover thing...
