The union nut for the power steering high pressure pipe was seized on so I ended up snapping the pipe to get it off when I took the engine out. I now have the new engine in and a new pipe on order but it won't arrive until wed/thurs.
I was wondering if I should wait until the new pipe arrives to try starting up the engine (will it cause any damage to the pump?) or if it would be ok to run it without fluid? Could you use a bit of garden hose or something as a temporary solution so you can run it up?

I thought of that but I didn't think I would be able to attach it strongly enough for the high pressure without damaging the thread.
