September 11 XS Utility SW buying advice
Hi
Spotted a 61 plate September 11 110 XS Utility which I might look at and px in my 2010 Fl2 HSE. Quick question would this one be fitted with a DPF? Not sure when they were fitted as standard to Defenders
Thanks

Hi
The one I have spotted is also in silver like yours, standard as far as I can see with FSH etc. Never driven a 2.4 tdci (driven td5's 300 and and own a 200 tdi) so I am hoping this will be a good experience.

Cheaper road tax on 2.2 because it has the dpf, just to consider. Pumas with six speed are very good for motorway cruising/touring. No regrets with ours. Good luck! James

My 2011 2.4 90 CSW is £240 road tax as I paid it today, and no DPF. I thought the 2.2 was the same cost.

Utility Wagons are commercial vehicles so they have cheaper road tax than cars. From a certain date (about 2011ish) all Defenders were registered as commercials so the tax is at the lower band on all late vehicles, but if you buy an earlier station wagon with windows in the boot it's about £500 a year because they're registered as a car. All Commercials are about £240ish a year.

So if you compare say a 2010 County Station wagon with a 2013 County Station wagon, the 2013 one is indeed cheaper, but it's because the later one is regisitered as a commercial, not because of the DPF. A Commercial of any age and anything after about 2011 is the same tax band.

Pickups, Single, double cab, HCPU, hard top vans, Utility Station wagons are all commercials, regardless of age.

Service history
Older post but I am still looking. Tempted by a 2008 XS CSW. 101,000 miles 4 owners on sale at an independant - to quote

'A really nice example, straight and tidy, mechanically sound and everything works as it should. Full roof rack, and half leather with air conditioning as per the standard XS specification. Not a full demonstrable service history as it has been owned recently by and enthusiast who has done all the servicing and maintenance himself''

The on line MOT history shows consistent mileage and no horrors other than bulbs and tyre cuts/wear.

Question is should I run a mile from no service history?

If the enthusiast serviced it, then being an enthusiast he might of kept receipts for all parts ordered and used, filters, oil, wiper blades etc. I know I do. 110 D250 SE HT

Mine is the same age and 5K less on the clock and that would be the bottom of my pricing range if I was to sell, so as long as it's all straight and good then I'd say thats not a bad price 110 D250 SE HT

I have a 62, 7 seat 2.2 XS 110 and its lower tax (£240 ish ) and no DPF. (I think that this came in little later on around the 2013-2014 models)
It was £25k from a main dealer - but had 2yr parts and labour warranty, landrover assist, MOT warranty and a list of little extras that I asked for such as tinted glass, full mats, external lights wiring, and wax oil treatments on purchase.
It was in good condition with 42k miles so the £27k for a younger model sounds in the right ball park. Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

Are you sure you don't have a DPF, mine certainly does and mine came off the line December 2011. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html
