200 tdi vs 300 tdi driving
should there be any differences driving wise? His feels more heavier than mine. He is doing my mums head in about the clutch going on it. Which it isn't as it drove spot on for me, part from the gear change been more heavier and the steering been a little more tighter. His has the proper wheels on mine doesn't, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

There's more spring assistance on the 300 tdi clutch.
I used to find the 200 clutch heavier although easier to drive in wellies. Laughing
In my case, the 200 was in a Ninety, & 300 in a 110, so comparisons are difficult. Ex RN 110 Station Wagon

so that explains the clutch pedal then, I think my dad thinks these two are the same, and is using mine as a base, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

also the 300 will seemingly feel heavier to drive, nose diving into corners a tad more, due to the fact tat the 300 engine is a good ...ooo...probably 8" + / - further forward than the 200, which makes it all a bit nose heavy.

That will explain why mine is nose dives into corners than my dads 200. Also is the 200 more pokey than the 300? bare this in mind, I have a standard exhaust with a cat on, which has a slight blow. His has a custom made job with no cat. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

looks like its been on since the day it was built by the look of it, I need to find a decent pipe to replace it. My Peugeot 306 on a Y plate got the DEcat treatment some years ago now, and I tell you what, it made a massive difference in power! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

where did you get that from? My dad got one made up for his, but has had nothing but trouble with it.
I know removing the EGR system did make a massive difference in performance, more lively in 1st and 2nd gear. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Are you sure its a cat, and not just the flexi joint bit,, which is bigger diameter than the rest of the pipe .wouldn't have been a cat anyway, cats don't do anything on a diesel.

Out of the factory, they produced the same power and torque (although the Defender 200tdi was detuned slightly compared to the Discovery 200tdi - only a couple of hp). The 300 was re-engineered to be more refined and the installation in both Defender and Discovery was the same. Darren

Yeah, but only the 300tdi that was fitted with electronic diesel control. Power up to 122 from 111, IIRC. It made a noticeable difference too - the later auto was pretty spritely. Darren

CATs just strangle diesels, I found as soon as I removed mine on the Peugeot, the car was more responsive. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
