Looking for a relationship between fault codes
Hi

Car Puma 2.2

Car runs and accelerates.

When I drive, i Got hickups and got the following not tested codes:

P169F
P2453 DPF differential pressure sensor
P2297 Oxygen sensor out of range during decelleration bank 1
B1A98 Local interconnection network bus circuit 1
P0384 Glowplug control module control
P0384 Glowplug module control circuit high
P0670 Glowplug module control circuit
P138A Glowplug Module control
P0380 Glowplug/heater circuit
P0381 Glowplug Indicator circuit
P0130 O2 Sensor circuit bank 1
P0116 Engine cooland temperature circuit/range performance
P0336 Crancshaft position sensor Circuit / Range performance.

and 200 more.... :/

Looks as a cable problem to me.. but were to start?

You need to check engine loom on the L/H side, not the greatest job on the 2.2, but looking at your codes I would say loom has rubbed through? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Cleared... somehow the non tested codes cannot be removed...

The following staid

P0113 Intake air temperature sensor 1 - circuit high input - general electric failure -circuit short to battery or open (pending)

After riving over 2500 RPM

P0101 Mass or volume air flow - circuit range / performance - general electric failure - circuit voltage above threshold (intermittent)

thoughts?

Could the tubes that go in the MAF sensor be the other way around? or doesn't it matter?

Ian

You have won the bottle for solvong the temp related fault. It was indeed a lose connector on the LH side of the gearbox.

The following codes pop up after hitting the trottle:

P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow (not returning)

P2263 Turbo boost system performance (not returning)

P243F Mechanical failure - wrong mounting position ???

The strange thing is that when I look at the snap shot data the in car temperature / outside temperature is 215 Deg C

Were tp start?

Hi Ian

Still left with P243F! Think it has something to do with the DPF.

Think I cannot solve the fauld myself. Fautlmate is saying " mechanical failure - wrong mountig position".

The only thing that could be wrong is the mounting of the sensors. but I cannot see how.

Regards

Quite an unusual code to get?

Is it running ok?
Have you checked sensor wiring in and around DPF?
What mileage has your LR done, do you notice if it's doing re gen occasionally?
If not, can you force re gen on your diagnostics?

Sorry for so many questions... Wink 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Car Defender 130 MY12 2.2
Engine changed 2015 (due to oilpump failure) done 40.000 km since.

I recently overholed the transferbox.

When i did a test run I pulled the sensors out of the DPF and had to change them (drove 20 Km without)

After I got a sorts of problems.

Most are solved

Changed the VCV as I thought this was the problem, but afterwards I noticed problems with the low pressure (electric pump earthing problem)

the VCV is not yet relearned as this is blocked in some way.

When I remove the fault codes it is running normal at 800 rpm
I can rev freely and everything looks normal.

When I drive I get some hickups.. when pushing the pedal it is not moving as it should be. then a hessitation.. and than I hear the turbo spinning. and losing all power. During this I smell smoke.

MIL light goes on

Now I get P0101 Mass or volume air flow and P2263 Turbo Boost system performance

I changed the rubber tubes on the DPF that go to the pressure sensor. think I mixed them up (causing the strange fault code)

I like to look at the valve that is behind the trottle body VG.. it was removed during de VCV valve exchange. I dont know how easy the valve should open. When I remove the valve motor it is spinning, but the arm is not very strong and I hear it buzzing when the car is not running..

any help apriciated

Are the pressure pipes in the DPF clear?

I've replaced quite a few of the sensors for the CAT on Transits due to blockages, this will throw fault codes telling you the DPF is blocked when it isn't!
The first one I ever did sent me round in circles!
I ended up replacing the DPF which did not cure the problem Embarassed

its usually a blocked pipe on the TDCI with DPF.
Check all your pipes are clear in and around the DPF, blow them through with compressed air if you can?
The cat sensor is a funny looking part, with 2 or three pipes leading to it and 2 wires and plug, these are what are prone to blocking up.

New sensor is about £140 from Ford, but not sure how they differ in shape to fit the Defender?
If there is a 2.2 at work tomorrow I will try to have a look.

Are you sure your low pressure pump is ok?
If your not getting correct pressure this would possibly give you trouble too,
The2.2 Is a lot more temperamental compared to the 2.4s.

I'm still wondering if you have a fault in the loom/poor earth somewhere,
Especially if the engines been out?

Good luck 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

looked for air leaks. Found some at the inlet.. Now only the MAF fault came up. Still no power but could accelerate up to 80 Km/h.

Will look further tomorrow.
