He was a great rider, a good sportsman and will be a big loss to bike racing. RIP Nicky.

Just read a Tweet from Marcel Kittel. Julia Veilhehner, a German triathlete, also died on Monday, in the same Italian hospital as Nicky Hayden, hit by a truck while training on her cycle.
Michele Scarponi, an Astana team cyclist, was also hit by a van and killed in Italy a few weeks ago. Very sad.

Absolutely awful news.
All cycling. All very experienced and very fit athletes and, it goes without saying, superb bike-handlers.
There are many more less experienced and less able cyclists out there on the road - I'm one of them. We're all vulnerable.
Most cyclists are motorists too. Most are considerate (I acknowledge that there are some that aren't, but they are few).
Let's all be careful out there.
