Difference between Transit turbo and Defender turbo
Hello, first post for me. I have read this forum from afar for years, finally joined, and now I have a question. Need to source a secondhand turbo for a project on my 2.4 puma. Have been told that there is a difference between a defender turbo and a transit turbo but when enquiring on flea-bay they tell me they are the same. I'm confused. Question Help appreciated

I think the electronic side maybe different like the Actuator movement controlled by the ECU. But beyond that is out of my scope of knowledge. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

There are quite a few variations in the TDCI turbo, depending on what it's going in.
Most are in the way of how the actuator is mounted, also exhaust flange can be different.

I would buy one specific to your LR, don't take people's word on EBay or at least get some good photos/ dimensions of the one he is selling. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

i expect most of the variation is going to be the orientation of the outlets so it can marry up with the pipework on the transit. The engine can be mounted transverse in the front wheel drive Transit and longitudinal in the rear wheel drive transit.

The transit 2.4 also came in a choice of about 3 horse power ratings from about 80bhp through to 140bhp, so i expect there are a few different Turbos, possibly a smaller one to strangle the engine on the 80bhp version.
