Totally agree with the buzz from getting that MOT for the first time. I spent 18 months building an Austin A35 Van from a shell and boxes of parts (abandoned project). 10 years on I still have it and enjoy it just as much as day one.

you know something, which was sad for me, was the parts getting very thin on the ground for my car. Some panels had been discontinued, and most of the Later stuff ( mpi bits) you couldn't track down anymore at all. Id have loved to have done a good restore on the car, and even reworked the engine a little bit. But with rover going out the way they did, it created a major parts imbalance. Some stuff you can get still get for the older cars, but anything newer its a bit more tricky. Rover metros are odd ball one, You had to be your own support. The Austin version ( mk1 to mk2) you can get most odds and sods, but not the cars, That was due to the mini boys breaking many good motors, places did specialise in the mini and Austin metro, but none really touched the rover metro.
Also things were starting to get very expensive too, K series engine is very expensive to fix when that starts to go wrong, Sad
Still one cracking little car though no matter what has happened Mr. Green Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Still no MOT yet. However there are only a couple of bits and bobs left to do before it's ready Mr. Green

Also took it down to meet the defender Whistle

Great thread, great job, but....

That exhaust is just wrong on a RRC - give it back to the poor boy racer sat next to his Hinda Civic crying after you nicked it off him Rolling with laughter

I agree the exhaust is hideous, it's too small at the headers and the crush bends are awful. However it currently takes gasses from the front to the back so will do for now Rolling with laughter

I plan to have a H piped twin exhaust when time permits. Currently I'm just getting it roadworthy whist the defender has its surgery. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

That looks like the exhaust I put on my rover metro, God how did my dad bleat how noisy it was! Rolling Eyes Car had no sound proofing in, so what did he expect. I ended up removing the system to shut his gob up! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

No MOT yet as a small excursion to the Nürburg Ring got in the way Embarassed

Brakes are bled and working well but I have an annoying ABS fault Big Cry (blink code 3-0 valve block open circuit) which is leaving the ABS warning light on and therefore is an MOT fail, so until I can get that sorted I haven't booked one yet.

(Any pointers to common sources of this problem/fault code would be brilliant)

It's all pretty much there now though. A couple of bits of interior trim. One of the cables for the drivers electric seat mechanism and the sill covers / front spoiler and under tray.

Going to have the A.C. regassed when it's in for it's MOT. Hopefully come out with a clean bill of health and ice cold blowers again Mr. Green 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I haven't yet. That's this weekend's task. I have bought a cable and installed Rovergauge on my laptop so can now interrogate the ECU.

This revealed a faulty coolant temperature sensor (ECU one, dash one still working) which probably explained the slightly raised idle speed. The ECU didn't see the engine getting any warmer.

I'm going to tackle the ABS warning light and then book an MOT! 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
