Installing electric windows
This might have been covered previously but I looked around and found nothing specific to my question. So, an 01 110, would it be possible to install electric front windows? If advisable then, is the equipment easy to come by for the defender or is it necessary to convert from another model? Finally, if it can be done, can it be done by the keen amateur?

A quick google will reveal you can buy electric window kits for a Defender.

Literally 2 seconds on google. http://www.paddockspares.com/defender-electric-window-kit.html

Cheers for that. I had meant a look on the forums here. No matter, you've pointed me to the gear and I'll trust the set up is easily installed. Thanks for the help.

Yup, pretty easy to do. Its quite straight forward, effectively replace manual bits with a motor. Only thing thats a tad annoying is the door cards will have a random hole from the window winder

As you would imagine on an 01, random holes have become part of its make-up. More annoying than that though would be trying to find 200 quid for the pleasure of not winding myself up. Might keep an eye out for something on flea-bay while the wallet is resting. If you hear of anything cheaper then do get back.

You can buy universal kits for about £50 but not as plug and play and not as neat

Don't the kits come with a plastic bung to go in the hole?
