Seats! Recaro, Corbeau?
Hi Guys!

Help please!

My standard 90 seats (actually the 'premium' leather versions), are just giving me 'dead legs' after about 500km at the wheel.

On my 110, I had bought the Exmoor Trim 'extended seat bases' for my standard seats, and these had made a good difference to my driving comfort as the seat bases are indeed about 1.5 inches longer.

I am wondering how the Recaro seats, or the Corbeau seats are regarding driving comfort, especially with respect to having a longer seat base that gives my longish legs more support with extended length under the thigh to the knee?

Any comments would be appreciated... my wife is threatening walking, over my plans for a 'lap' of Australia in my 90 with the seats I have!! Rolling Eyes Shocked

Cheers,

My Recaro's from LRI Solutions are probably the best upgrade I've had done and well worth the money. They truly are the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in and on the journey back from the UK to the south of France after having them fitted not once did I feel uncomfortable, unlike the journey up with the original LR seats which was numb bum dead leg sore back hell. Rolling Eyes The extra tall padded cubby is a really great arm rest too, making for even more comfort. Thumbs Up I added the MUD seat rails to increase the height slightly and now they will recline much further, far enough back for a decent kip, but getting your hand on the reclining knob is impossible unless you get out and do it. No issues with them rubbing on the side walls either.

I don't know the Corbeau seats, but can compare the standard, the premium, the Scheelmann seats with my genuine SVX Recaros. The first two both are basic Defender seat frames, the Scheelmann give a very (= too) high seating position as I know first hand from sitting in a friend's Defender, and the genuine Recaros are really a class of their own. I guess all Recaros will be good, but most will have a bit wider seat back which may touch the seatbelt and the B-frame when moving the seat back or forward. The genuine SVX seats don't do that, absolute perfection.
Some will, rightly, say that seats are a very personal appreciation, so try to test some of these. Surely there must be a few SVX trucks down under. Thumbs Up

Yolo I have owned an SVX with the seats Eric speaks of and did 100,000 miles in it Very Happy and I currently have a 90 with the same seats Riverboy has so think I can give you a fair review of both Very Happy The LRI ones make a very comfortable ride and are probably the best of the aftermarket fitments in my opinion however they dont come close to the SVX in terms of comfort they were amazing. Having just asked my wife which she prefers her reply was both were very comfortable compared to her standard seats Laughing but the SVX seats had the edge in terms of comfort she has just said.
Both styles wrap around your hips and back and like Riverboy I have the LRI seats mounted on the Mud rails which certainly does "lift" the seating position which takes a little getting use too. Hope this helps Very Happy 2015 HT XS 90

Many thanks...

So, to confirm, that the Recaro seats available now from the likes of LRI Solutions etc, are not the same as the SVX Recaro's?

If not, can you still find the SVX equivalents somewhere? Question YOLO... You Only Live Once...

You will not get agreement on things like what are the best seats etc.

Things like seats are down to personal body shape, preferred seating position, steering wheel size, seat rails etc.

We have Scheelmann seats fixed to our white 90, at first with standard seat rails I found them slightly uncomfortable below my thighs. Fitted a set of our seat rails which raised the front by 5mm and back by 30 mm and they are very comfortable now. Am a short arse so do not need massive of backwards movement.

Before spending your hard earned dollars try sitting in different ones so you stand a reasonable chance of finding ones which are suitable for you..

Yup!

All I know is the standard LR ones are too short in the leg for me and my legs 'go to sleep' after a couple of hours at the wheel! I have the extended seat rails fitted which do make things much better however! YOLO... You Only Live Once...

A cheaper option (or to try) could be just to replace the seat base with something like this?

Corbeau RRS seats would be my vote. VERY comfortable, excellent back support and side support, mine have the proper high bases as what is the point in buying a very expensive bucket seat if its no better than a regular seat?

I'm not a small guy but I happily fit in the seats, the hold you in very well off road, recline nicely and you can have them heated from factory (comes with a plug and play loom).

Very soft to sit in as well, I personally wouldnt have any other seat in my landy, or other car for that matter.

As for removable bases, how often do you actually need to get the battery/ECU? It's rare. For jump starting or being jumped fit an Anderson connector in the foot well, costs all of £15 and 30 mins of your time.

I have genuine SVX recaros with removable bases which are comfortable for long journeys and durable, however I really like the comfort of the Scheelmann seats but not driven many miles on them. If I was on the market, Scheelmann would be up there (at the right price!)
