Power Steering has gone missing?
Ciao,

Just been out on a little off road day and about 20 minutes before the end my power steering slowly failed.

It's now completely gone...?

I checked the fluid level, all hoses, pump etc and all seems in good order.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Yan

Is your auxiliary drive belt tight and not slipping?

Checked that as well. Thought it may have been slipping when it got wet but no.

At least one of them isn't. Laughing

Seriously though, there aren't many parts to the system, If the belt is in good condition and not slipping and there isn't fluid leaking out of somewhere then it's either going to need a new steering box or Pump.

Sounds a bit like the pump, as that'd mask any signs of failiure hence full fluid level no leaks etc. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Hi. Well that is just ridiculous for a fault to appear at that low mileage, i think a fast trip with your warranty in hand is called

So I just got in to go to the dealer and the power steering seems to have returned?

Maybe an airlock? But how would that be possible? Unless some funny angle when off road caused it to suck in some air from the reservoir.

Thoughts..?

is there a pressure relief valve in the pump?

If so it could be sticking open, see if it will repeat the fault by holding it on full lock?

good luck

Keith
