VCV Reprogramming Temperature
Hi everyone,
Just thought right time to do the vcv pump relearn by myself without replacing the vcv valve. Mine has done 114k km. Could anybody tell that the ideal engine temperature should be reached for relearn?

75~80°C coolant temp

Try to get it to 80 then park up quick as it'll cool during the process, mine failed a few times as I was trying to do it on a frosty morning.

I think there is an upper limit too, which can be a pain to wait to cool down from, so don't over cook the hills Wink


Oh and p.s. I have a working theory that a lot of people swapping out their VCVs and reporting back success may have simply benefitted from the relearn itself... please do report back if you see any improvement ! Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

it may depend on the device you use to do the procedure.

But with my IID tool it wouldn't let you do the releard without the engine being at temperature. It'll display the current temp, and you just raise the revs for a few min and once it hits the target temp it'll start the process.

Hi Guys,
Finally i was able to complete the vcv pump relearn without replacing the vcv valve. Engine is much smooth and no rough idle now. I hope things will not come back again. Also i found few dtcs before the relearn to my surprise as they never appear on my scangauge. Managed to clear them off at the end of the procedure. I used SSD to perform the relearn.

Hrrrm, well I do wonder how many unnecessary VCVs have been replaced?

I know that I didn't try a relearn before swapping mine out... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

well may be i was too early to update. Still after the pump relearn the idle is not smooth as what i would have thought. But the engine clatter has much improved after relearn. What i am thinking now is to replace the vcv. Only worry is that i will have to do the relearn again and that could reduce ecu data space?

ECU space not an issue, I think that's a forum myth.. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...
