EGR after remap to blank or not to blank
Hi all

just had a remap from BAS ON 2011 double cab, more than happy with the result, question is :

is it recommended to blank off the egr now its been deleted or not or just switch maps back every now and again to let it run.

Also if its recommend to blank then does anyone have any pictures of where it goes?

thanks

dean

Blank it off but keep the gubbins that come off just incase they change the rules.

You don't have to take anything off.
You put a blanking plate after the egr cooler just before the egr valve itself.
Takes about a half a hour to fit Thumbs Up

Hello I must doing also this job. I think on the weekend. I am looking for tipping for this job. Is there some conversations on this job. My english stops the searching tool to work well Laughing

I am deciding that to do off the hood is a good option and to sit me on the engine to undo the lowest bolt. I cannot reach from under.

I've been running a BAS no-egr map for getting on for 7 seven years and 150,000 miles and did nothing to the EGR, I simply left it alone. It is unlikely that it would work properly after 7 years of inactivity, but since I have no intention of reverting to the original map I don't see it matters. I have never had any problems with my inert EGR.

it is a simple blanking plate that slides in, if you put EGR blank into EBAY they are a couple of pounds DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Blank it off, as you don't know for sure that the EGR is fully closed, it might be stuck partially open.

I was tempted to blank mine and remove it all to declutter the engine bay, but as Bankz5152 says, they might change the rules in the same way they have for Catalytic converters - ie a visual check to see if the EGR has been removed.

does anyone have a picture of where the blanking plate goes?

Doe those allen bolts come undone easily normally or does it become an issue? Cheers

^^ BAS = Bell Auto Services https://bellautoservices.co.uk/

Run by Pete Bell, creator of remaps and other high-quality engineering upgrades for Landrover vehicles.

Provided that the EGR is currently closing properly, there really is no need to blank it off when upgrading to a no-EGR map.

Quick question, if blanking with a BAS remap, is it the 'fully blanked' plate I should be fitting, as apposed to the plate with a small centre hole. Thanks
