Help. , sounded like a bag of old spanners now won't start??
Hi all , any ideas
My 2010 utility made a few funny noises , like a really loud rattling , almost someone like a bag of old spanners in the bonnet
It stopped but thought nothing more of it. But it's happened again today and only just started , was just clicking there was power but not turning over .
Luckily it did start and it's now back on the drive ,I've got a long run next weekend in it and something's not right.

Any mechanics out there hazzard a guess what it may be pleas?
Thanks so much in advance 🙏🙏

Probably loose injector clamp?

Have a look at the injectors when running, see if a couple are bobbing up and down. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Yes, straightforward you will need to remove a few part around the injector to get to the bolt.
If it is the injector you should really replace the washer and seals, but if you need it just to get you out of trouble nip the bolt down, NOT tight, think it's around 6NM?

It's the only thing I can think of that makes a really nasty noise?
And cause a starting problem.

Try a search on here for "loose injector clamp" there was a video posted recently.
Common problem on the TDCI 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

The new bolts are cheap enough from Land Rover Dealers (you need two, as the injectors are clamped in pairs.)

but DO NOT buy the washers from Land Rover, they're a complete rip off, at about £18 each! Shocked

Just get a set of 4 washers off ebay for a 2.4 transit, or your local diesel injection specialist. It's worth getting new oil seals for the injectors if you're taking them out to change the washers.

It's a straight forward job, it's all easy to get at.

To be fair even Ford wanted about £9 each for them! Citroen were £7 each. (the Citroen Relay uses the 2.2 Puma engine too)

Like that?

Another contender could be a knackered crank damper pulley.
