What pipe is this?
Whilst cleaning out some mud round the rear n/s crossmember this pipe came off in my hand and I can't for the life of me see where it came from. Can anyone recognise what it is for? Thanks

OK, cheers. It confused me a bit being on the passenger side. I'll have another dig around and try and find the pipe it was connected to.

It's degraded and fallen on top of the tank, unfortunately it's only a matter of time - good on you for actually finding it!

Near impossible to fix/find in the current state, for a proper fix and mod to a real solution you've got to drop the tank to access to the top of tank and reroute it to the other side. Dirty and time consuming 'project' for not much apparent improvement - that is until you notice the leaking diesel on fill up and dirt in your fuel filter!

Swap out or at least check the fill breather at the same time.

The pipes themselves can block leading to all sorts of running (or not) issues, or the rubber pipe connection can perish and fail as yours has and let allsorts of cr#p into the tank.

Good luck

On a 110 you do not need to drop the tank to get good access, that's only so for a 90.
Take to opportunity to replace with Land Rover's last version of this fuel breather pipe, and eventually modify this a bit and then install like I had done in below thread. Still think that is a very good little mod of this breather pipe.

I tried very hard to not fully drop the tank, but I couldn't muster the hand strength required to do the job without my hands getting too big to fit in the area.

Also, as it was so dirty I couldn't see Censored all of what was going on - if you've done it before it's easy, but for your first time there are steps that you have to nut out for yourself that are much easier with it clean and in front of you.

The logistics of dropping the tank safely and without causing more issues aren't exactly trivial - time consuming at best - so yes, certainly try to avoid it if you can Thumbs Up Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Mines a TD5 110, think it might be a different arrangement as the breather pipe is on the opposite side to the filler. I suspect the rubber hose is perished on top of the tank so don't see any other way but to drop it. Not sure it's a job I'll be doing myself TBH.
