Fitting of OEM wing arial
Or to be more precise the Ariel wire is on the outside of the aerial. Advertised as OEM but how / why have the connection cable on the outside. Any ideas😁

The black tube bit goes inside the wing, it houses the telescopic aerial when it's pushed down Wink  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Getting the cable through to the radio is tricky. Don't just pull the old one out. You are best securely taping the new to the old and slowly pulling through. I think there are posts explaining the detail on the forum.
Didn't want you rushing in and then struggling to feed the new wire through.

I just removed cleaned and refitted my aerial. Dead easy job, and the cause of the poor reception was the cable. Mine had an extension cable, which had rusty connections. I don't know why the extension was fitted, because the lead from the aerial is easily long enough to reach the radio. So I just removed the rusty extension and plugged the aerial directly to the radio. It must have been fitted at the factory as it had Land Rover badges printed on it.

Maybe it was used to ease the assembly process, allowing the bulkhead to be fitted, with a cable already routed? Thumbs Up 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Great stuff, getting sprayed tomorrow so will be fitting sometime the week after next. Do you know if it will fit through both the wing and the wing top checker plate.

From the inner wing / under engine bay, I think you can get at it through there from underneath.
The nut, you can tighten with needle nose pliers tips from the top. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

Yes access is dead easy via the inside of the right hand wing top. There should be enough thread to fit through chequer plate. Clean the underside of the hole with a bit of sandpaper first to ensure a good earth. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

I was never a fan of those retractable ones, so easily broken because eventually you're going to forget to retract it.

I think LR do a Rubber one, but i went for the Hirschman one, fantastic quality, even came with an early lead to run back to a good earth point.

But yes the hardest part is getting the cable through the bulkead gromet.

I only put the radio up if i want to check the height of an entrance - other than that its always down and i get perfect radio reception Thumbs Up (even after the dealer bent the aerial and replaced it!) Mike
