2ish litres of oil from transfer box REFILL plug...
Hi all,

Just changing all the oils and lubes. I drained the transfer box to replenish oil and fit a new inspection panel gasket/threadlock the bolts. When I opened the REFILL plug, about 2ish litres of (golden) oil came out.... is that normal?!? I wasn't quite expecting that so it poured all over my nice new flat pack boxes. Mopping it up, it was golden as I'd expect and gloopy, so the right consistency.

I did the gearbox just before that and I think the right amount of oil came out of there.

Any ideas greatly received Smile TD5 Defender 90

Either it's been previously overfilled or the seal between it and the main box has failed and the main box has drained into it. Potentially not good either way, unfortunately.

If there are no other signs of leaks or distress then I'd refill it to the correct level (and check the main box level) and then run it for a few miles and check the levels again. Darren
