If you're a young lad, this thing is absolutely awesome. Chris is exactly that. So kudos to him.

I think anything with a KBX grill on is hideous, no matter how many wheels and coloured dead cows.

Having never met Martin but reading the suggestions that we avoid dissent, I am wondering if we should rename the forum the North Defenderea

This forum is an excellent source of information with a lot of experienced Land Rover enthusiasts paying us regular visits, it'd be tragic to see it dragged down to the levels of other forums like landyzone. Please don't ruin it.

I'm sure it is all tongue in cheek. When building a vehicle as extreme as that which has been built to draw attention and be used as an advertising tool - there is bound to be some opinions, it is the whole point of the vehicle!
I'm sure there would be similar reaction to (for example) a 6 wheel drive discovery that had been painted white with a bright red interior. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Some machine, would be seriously tempted if it was 6x6 and I had a few more zeros on the end of my bank balance.
Interior not to my taste, but after a couple of weeks it would all be mucky anyway. 80" 1948

it was built as a marketing tool...

i don't mind it, i think the interior could do with toning down a bit but overall its cool. price wise, its not bad at all considering the market place... pretty sure i read the other day someone wanted £125k for a 'spectre' edition that was half arsed and had a standard 2.2....

The people who are hating on it, let me guess your ideal defender is as it left the factory... Thud

Agree - it's easy to forget (it's getting a long time ago now), but trying to remember how I would have felt about driving this around in my late teens/early twenties - I think it would have been amaaaazing!

Not at all. My 110 has tasteful mods that are thought through and work for me.
Whilst I agree it was built as a marketing tool for CSK, but why build something with such a peculiar style. Surely it makes more business sense to build something that has real salability (is that even a word?) about it. This doesn't have that. The interior is to loud, removing the diff for the driven 3rd axle etc. A toned down leather interior and leaving it with 3 driven axles and it would sell a lot faster and a lot closer to the asking price 110 D250 SE HT

I notice that after 3 pages of comment on the vehicle and some salacious slurs against Essex, no-one has come on here to defend Essex.

Apart from which, the vehicle is obviously very Hertfordshire..... Whistle

Would love a 6x6, but the styling of that is very much to "individual taste"..the interior looks like a Macaque's bumhole

I'll defend Chris

He started off with a very small business working on defenders and has over the years grown to a substantial business having done very good work on a lot of defenders and some questionable work on a few others

Personal taste is everything especially the interior, the outside is a tonka toy & to be honest we have all liked tonka toys Thumbs Up but most of us have grown out of them Whistle

Hats off to the work involved in the conversion & the interior not my taste but then most of Chris's defenders have been different Rolling with laughter 2020 P300 HSE
