Not the best photo but this is a rear output from a D2

The casting isnt machined for the speedo drive.

I have purchased a 41D disco box without the speedo drive. I have been told that I may need to use shims where the output housing is mated against the box? anyone needed to do this?

^^^ Nothing. the disco2 gets it ground speed off of the ABS sensors.

I recently swapped the t/box over on my 110 to get rid of an annoying whine. the later box I got was an ex disco2 model with no dofflock or rear hole for the speedo transducer, so after a few emails with Dave Ashcroft (he was very helpful... I'll post his reply up here later when I get home if anyone's interested), I swapped over the front piece to give me my difflock back (I also changed the pinion bearing and put a new seal in and a new drive flange... which is now leaking...typical LR)

Rear assy needed swapping over. I asked Dave about the shim business; he suggested to re-use the shims that came off of the original setup (mine didn't have any in anyway) and hope that the bearing doesn't end up too tight (or loose)

Anyway, a few thousand miles on and all seems OK.

You will also need to transfer the hi lo switch housing from your current t box to the new old 1.222 t box.
it's a simple straight exchange. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.
