A month into my defender ownership I had the Engine light on....

Great I thought !!! how much is this going to cost etc etc...

I did get the code read at the time and they cleaned the erg valve or something £40 please...

Then I joined this forum Smile bought a Ultra gauge? read my own codes, find its a common issue, Have probably re set it 3 times in 18 months. Drives fine, gets serviced etc.. all good Smile

Well worth looking at for yourself, great bit of kit

Ickle/Stacey - thanks for that. I will get one on order. At $79 fr the ultragauge it seems like a bargain for a bit of peace of mind. I can only find them in the states at the moment did you get yours from there or was there a uk distributor?

Are there any big differences between the scangauge and the ultragauge? ---------------------------------------------------------------

Had exactly the same in France last year - seemingly a fill up at a cheap supermarket with standard diesel was the cause. No change in power or driving characteristics.

Cleared fault (which was apparently pollution linked) and ran a few tanks of super through it and no trace since.
At the time the exchange rate made it a no brainer to fill with super even on the autoroutes.

Hope its all sorted!

Hello

Mine came from the states, plugs into the OBD socket near your right knee.

Loads of options bit I like MPH, Revs, Engine Temp as the main ones.
