95 300tdi lost ignition key
Had to leave my 110 300tdi in the car park as I've lost the ignition key whilst out shopping, anyone know if ignition is chipped as only way I can think to recover it is unscrew plastic cover and snap ignition barrel somehow??? But that won't work if it's chipped?? Don't think it is,, any help would be appreciated,

There isn't any chip in the ley. If you've got an alarm fob then the sense coil will be around the barrel but is easily moved aside. Darren

Thanks mate, mine is an early 95 has no alarm or immobiliser fitted, I'm trying to cause as little damage as possible as don't want it to cost me a fortune, was thinking about trying a dent puller on my barrel so I don't damage steering colum?

Wouldn't you be better off picking up a new ignition barrel and shear bolts and just swapping it over? Darren

Can I still do that without having key? Also I need it moved quite fast as its in a supermarket car park ha, not sure I will have time to order a full ignition and wait for it to be delivered , will enquire tomorow what time scale that would involve, basically want it moved as fast as poss so I can get it home and fix it properly with a full new housing and switch.

You don't need the key to remove the ignition barrel. It's held on with a clamp and two shear bolts, so would need to be chiselled off, but then it's just a case of bolting on a new one and re-connecting the wiring and away you go.

Do you have anywhere local that might have one in stock? A decent indy, perhaps? Darren
