Hi Richard

Thanks for the response and the truck looks good, however I'm defiantly looking for a TD5 or V8, I've always found the tdi's lacking in power - I currently run a tuned TD5 ( flashed / VV turbo / intercooler etc etc ) and I couldn't go back to a tdi - sorry!

Did see that, still not a Td5 - and before I get verbally abused about how good the 2.8 is ( still a tdi Whistle ) you can't run a auto off it with compushift - which is something I'm keen doing. I also know TD5's pretty well and you can tune the hell out of them

thanks for the link in. compushift and td5 i saw as added complication on something i wanted to be ultra reliable but i understand your reasons for wanting both i have raced (Croatia twice) with td5 compushift vehicle, they do go well Very Happy

If your tunning the nuts out of it just take spare lumps with you to events. Cheers

'sounds like you want a race truck rather than a challenge truck'

Not at all, ran a tricked up 90 300 tdi ( Simex/arbs/shafts/ome/giggled 8274s - u get the idea) but always found the tdi lacking, bogged down she had nothing left, even though she had a aftermarket intercooler / tweaked pump / no egr etc.
My current td5 (very similar off-road spec) will light its tyres up if and when required - but it's not a challenge truck ( trees and body work don't mix lol )

for challenge vehicles really the engine is just running the alternators to charge the winch batts in my experience as its all about punches and technicality of winching.

for navigation, special stage events where the V8s and more grunt come in to play then its time related and less challenge spec.

what diffs were you running on the tdi? 4.11s? Cheers

A TD5 challenge truck.........lol

It's not just my experience, got a few friends running 200 and 300 tdi tricked defenders - all complain about power especially after watching my 90 in action. I do understand the skills involved in comps ( I have competed nationally) and still believe that every now and again a little throttle is needed Smile

Did u sell the red 90.
