Since the day I started using the IVECO cap, the coolant level has never dropped. Previously, with the original LR cap, after every refill, the level dropped below 3 to 4 cm from the "equator" of the bowl after 200-300 km....

well it would have nowhere to go. The cap has a pressure valve in it, if the valve opens the pressure in the cooling system will be more than enough to clear the hose and stop anything going up it. Not to mention when the valve is closed (which is most of the time) the air lock in the hose would stop anything significant going up it.
Thanks for clearing that up, zsd-puma! I guess you have to disconnect the hose when topping up though, small detail.
If i remember from the Lorries i used to drive the spigot which the hose attaches to is able to rotate independently of the cap. I think most trucks have the same sort of set up as the expansion tanks are normally quite high up behind the panel just under the windscreen.
