Help! Air con pipe in way of BAS intercooler install?
My intercooler failed this week so I’m replacing with a unit from BAS. All good, except I can’t see how it can fit with the AC pipe that runs along the back of the condenser. Any thoughts?

I never knew that there was a pipe crossing behind the condenser, but I never looked for it either.
Unfortunately cannot check how mine is until tomorrow evening. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Mine is not factory fit, it’s aftermarket, which is concerning!! Worse case I reckon I can re-route round the front and get it re gassed. Any thoughts on a safe way to release the gas?

Need to be careful with aluminum pipes. Aluminum work hardens very fast and can crack without warning.
Usually AC service centers can recover your gas. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Cheers Dinnu, but without the intercooler I can’t drive to the air con place so I think I need to discharge on the drive. Any advice, just crack a joint and let it out?

I guess that is the easiest way. Doubt if the environment will thank you. Do not breath it. You might see some oil coming out. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thanks Dinnu. Yes I know, not great is it. Was looking at whether Halfords or similar do some sort of recovery kit. The car is in drivable at the moment so I’m not sure what other choice I have.

There are mobile ac service companies, we had our ac topped up on the drive by a man with a van.

Cheers Ads. Contacted my nearest mobile guy who was repairing a combine just down the road!! Came and sorted it for me and is making up a pipe for me as the condenser is now too far forward for the old one to fit. Bit of a result!

Just to close this off. I got myself a new pipe made. However, I also spoke to Cool Air Logan who make the aftermarket kit that I fitted and they are aware of the issue with the BAS intercooler (and probably others) and actually have a hose that you can buy that routes under the condenser, rather than round the back. Good to know. Their customer service is also incredible. Absolutely first rate.
