Personally, I would definitely opt to have the dents pushed out if they are your only reason for adding the wing tops. Most are riveted on and require the wings to be drilled.

The chequer plate brand to look for is 'Mammoth'. It's reputed to be OEM and is very nice quality.

1st off WHY do you want them ?? Do you ever stand or sit on the bonnet or wings, If not then get the dents sorted if you do DEFINATLEY get them fitted
2nd If you do get them make sure they are 3mm 3rd As said above make sure you have a rubber / foam gasket between all items. |

Land Rover dealerships are deducting the cost plus labour plus painting etc from any drilled panel offered for trade in. I wonder why? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

If you want chequer-plate, go for OEM which is 3mm think, 5 ridge and has the foam gasket glued to it. Use nylocks instead of rivnuts is best. Ignore what others think of the look - it's your car to do with how you like.

So that they can pay you less on the PX. You don't really think they actually remove the plate and have the holes done do you??? No more than webuyanypieceofjunk.com has all the things they chip prices for done before they ship the motors into auction. |

One of our guns has bought a lovely white XS and fitted gloss black CP on the wings and sills and rear corners. Kahn grill, big wheels, leather dash and door panels, black roof with six lights on a roof rack. I reckon he has spent Ģ4,000 on mods which of course he can but i'd rather spend it on skanky Latvian dancing girls after a few wild boar drives. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I personally don't like CP However if I needed to clamber on the wings to get onto a roof rack or whatever I would fit it.

If you want Top Quality then speak to Kevin or Faye at MUD and ask if he can get you the set from GMB. They also have the feature of a Hydraulic Ram on one side to keep the bonnet open.

Having scratched my wings CPWT are sitting in the garage as my next job
As for changing the value I think it is very much horses for courses, on a low mileage pristine heritage yes it may make a difference but on my used adventure in 10 years do not think it will make a bean difference  in fact that might be my only "upgrade" that does not alter the value downwards  2020 P300 HSE |

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I'll get the minor dents pushed out in the new year and then make a decision on whether to CP the wing tops. I don't have a roof rack, so there's little need for them other to cover the existing dents. |

If anyone allows a car dealer to deduct the price of re-doing the wing tops and accepts it then they must have mug stamped on their forehead. My local dealership is full of defenders with wing tops. Personally I like them but I also dislike it when people get carried away with the stuff and put it on every conceivable "vulnerable" surface. It's not just handy for climbing on, let's face it the wing tops are a handy "table" for all sorts and with WT's you don't need to worry.

Chequer plate?
Why do Defenders often have chequer plate on their wing tops? 
Because they can! 
Very few other vehicles have a useful sized horzontal flat surface on top of their wings. Even G models donīt have enough space to sit or stand on confortably. The CP just provides a stable and robust surface. Mine came with full set of CP from Nakatanenga fitted by the previous owner. It was that, and the rest of the spec that attracted me to this particular 2.2 90. It looked right, in my humble opinion. I added the panels surrounding the bonnet hinges last spring, mainly because I liked the look of them. Almost every time I wash the 90 (which I do by hand), I climb up onto the wing tops, and then onto the bonnet panels in order to clean the top of the cab and the windscreen. I often use the wing tops as a step, seat or to simply as a place to put tools, or whatever Iīm transporting, before loading it into the car. I wouldnīt want to be without it. It is another feature, that makes the Defender unique.
