Two way waterproof connectors - Standards
I have a number of these,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221705515351

They are cheap 2 way waterproof (resistant) connectors.

Is there and agreed etiquette for these? For example which end do you use for power going away from a battery and which way around (Left of Right) do you put the positive and negative wires. If not I will make my own standard loosely based on how Norman has connected stuff for use with a charity we are both in.

Typically, the 'female' part is live from the battery so that the pins are concealed when disconnected. As to which way round the wires go, it only matters if it matches up with a device: a light, for example. Darren

You should always plug into power

The way you do the wires I had a feeling was just a personal choice but didn't want to go to the hassle of connecting all the stuff up, then a person walking up and laughing as I did it the noob way.

Managed to fit an extra battery this afternoon and then fitted the charging loom for it. Now it just a case of wires for the cig sockets I have near the gear lever and some more up to the dash for the radio kit.

If you're interested, and it's keeping you awake at night, I noticed on my defender that all of the factory connectors seem to have the earth on the right hand terminal when viewed with the male side nearest to you and the release clip on the top.
