new fuel pump, cleand out harness now running s**t...help
hi,i put a new fuel pump in my 99td5 Censored would not start, looked in the red ecu and full of oil,had the old girl from new only ever cleaned the harness once about 13 years ago never had a problem, sprayed it all out with contact cleaner pulled out the white bit and cleaned under that as well ,now running very hesitantly like a massive flat spot then power but not quite like it should be,you press the throttle and nothing happens at first then the engine catches up

Try unplugging the maf sensor see if it makes any difference probably need replacing but only with genuine/vdo I assume you have replaced injector harness already? If not that would be first port of call easy to do about 30 mins job again use genuine loom only 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

You have to replace the injector loom. That's where the oil is coming from. You will still have plenty of oil in the main loom that will come out giving time. So you will need to clean you red plug regulary till you see less and less oil coming out.
Take the ECU out and place it with the plugs down, I hope you didn't get much oil in the ECU. Roel

The oil is not the real problem, real problem of the loom are tiny connectors on the injectors side of the loom. It loosens contact.
But with replacing the fuel pump you need to purge the fuel system. And it can take quite a bit of time. The procedure was already described somewhere here. And also the new pump can be faulty. If you unplug a pipe from fuel pressure regulator, and switch on the ignition, fuel must squirt out, not just slowly flowing. Put the pipe into a suitable container to catch the fuel. It should be approx. 3 l/ hour of fuel. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Once after replacing fuel cooler, I was not able to purge the fuel system. After 1 hour playing I have just pressed the gas pedal for full throttle and let the starter run for long time (30 seconds). And it finally started, with big cloud of smoke. After that it runs perfectly. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

hi,no leaks anywhere was performing perfectly for 15 yrs before fuel pump went quite suddenly on a 10 mile drive,it will start with jumpleads and 15 mins of trying, had ecu off over night no oil came out,i was gutted when it did not start with the new loom, going to get a new regulator and air mass thingy but still very open to any advice

if you let your fuel pump start cycle compleat then press the throttle 5 times it will constantly cycle and the engine light will flash purging the system

Have you replaced the fuel filter? And also is the replacement pump a genuine one? I have heard stories of brand new aftermarket ones failing literally immediately, as in they don't work our of the box.... 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
