Sorry but that is not correct ! My TD5 had flat spots and missed at 2000 rpm. Up to 2000 rpm it was fine, maybe a bit sluggish, but still OK to drive. The cause - crank shaft sensor !!! They can be an on/off type fault but I have helped a few people now with running issues on TD5's and probably a third of them had a sensor problem or the famous missing shim that was the subject of a LR recall.

I am not saying this is your problem but the mechanic should not have dismissed it - it takes minutes to check if it is OK and the shim is present !

I assume the pipes have been connected the correct way around on the pump after the change? 1999 Defender TD5 110

right guys,did the injector seals today and.............. and............. fixed at last,all were worn after 150k so touch wood thats all fixed,thanks for all the advice,new clutch fly wheel and disco transfer box this year so no doubt ill be asking for advice again
