Screened distributor cap
Anyone used a military screened ignition cap? One of these:

Just curious to find out if they actually protect the electrics from water or just radio interference. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Last time I looked (admittedly many years ago) a set of screened military plug leads for the V8, to go with the screened cap, cost over £1200 ! Shocked

I had one, but, as usual, never got around to fitting. I no longer have a distributor.

It was a fairly chunky affair and looked like it should keep splashes of water out of at least the coil and distributor cap, however the covers over the leads were simply braided and I'm not convinced they would have been entirely waterproof, certainly not for long periods of immersion.

I think I sold mine on Ebay for £60-ish in the end, which seemed to be the going rate.

Just stick a MegaSquirt setup on it, bin off the distributor and buy a snorkel. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
