^ ^ ^ Is the reliability as good or better than a Tdi engine Matt ? I have no experience of the OM606 so i was not sure that was the way to go ? 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

I'm not sure in a landy. But they racked up big miles in the E class they come out of. Plus they're German so probably a pretty reliable lump.

Diesel pump uk have just put one in a 110 with 321 whp and 509 lb ft Shocked

Check out their Facebook page. There's a YouTube video on there where they have it on the dyno. That's where I got the figures from.

Think about all that power though, thats some massive strain on drivetrain.

Just had a look, see what you mean Shocked I wouldn't need all that power, some where what the man has done around the 174-200 bhp make would be good Whistle

It's for the Censored who pull out in front of you, because your a " land rover " you will hold me up Evil or Very Mad and for the ones that speed up when you start to overtake them Evil or Very Mad They are the worst Shocked 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

But then for the price and hassle of the conversion you may as well tune your tdi. Will certainly cost a lot less.

Haha I know what you mean. Little do they know the number of ponies lurking under the bonnet Twisted Evil

Ive only one thing that i know of left to do with my Tdi is to put a VVT on Shocked But with the mileage that is on the clock i dont know if it will take it ?

Some have said that to get a full Turner engine and then put a VVT on that but i still have not found out what bhp it will put out Rolling Eyes

I do love a wolf in sheeps clothing Whistle

I found a tube on the Defender, its under The om606 landrover. Its by dieselpumpuk Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

I read that article too! Thumbs Up

I think the bellhousing plate's about £300, engine about £4-600 but surely the main expense will be beefing up the drivetrain to take some very 'un-landroverish' torque those engines put out. Check out Black Smoke racing on youtube to see what a race built om606 will do Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Cool

It's great there seems to be an interest in silly tdi projects Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Some more pics from today - Fitting a boost nipple at the intake manifold as well as opening smoothing up the intake bit before I ran out of dremel bits.

L110CDL What mods have you currently done to the engine? The engine will still take the VNT but to unlock its full potential would be best to have it running sweet first without compromising reliability.

That's why I am building mine from new.

The turbo will only help the engine to breathe more air, its all in the fuel pump where the power is. So its hard to tell what figures you will get, a turner engine will be stock figures probably but when you start bolting bits on it all depends how far you want to go with it. Fuel consumption? Smoke? Reliability?

Do you have a link to the article?

Yes you can soon rack up a bill on the merc engine. Injector and pump mods. Turbos. Clutches etc. For big power.
Then there's what gearbox to use... and the drivetrain.

Boost, you're really powering on with this build! Thumbs Up Looks like I'm slacking!

Yes we need a video!

I am reliably informed people should expect a video on this setup between Christmas and New Years!

That's great! My mates putting an edit together at the moment and we're stoked that people are interested! Cool Thumbs Up

Matt out of interest will you be using fully synthetic oil in your rebuilt engine? Only asking as I'm using it in mine once the turbos back on, but I'm half expecting it to leak after reading some stories of fully synth oil getting past old/brittle seals and round places normal mineral oil wouldn't reach. I like the idea of using fully synthetic so going to try it but just thinking on a new engine it might be a different story (I.e. Won't leak and be better long term)

Cant wait for the video Boost, will be very interesting Thumbs Up You are cracking on with this, just wish i lived closer as it would be great to see you in action Whistle

Matt, all i have done to the landy is to put a full size intercooler and a bigger (deeper) radiator on both from Alisport and the fuel pump has been tweaked a bit, got a bit of black smoke but not to much Whistle The engine is the original one as from the factory and same with the turbo Very Happy The engine is on about 298.000 miles at the moment Mr. Green
My main view is A. Reliability B. Fuel consumption C. Smoke.
What article do you mean ? Many thanks. 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.
